Creating the ultimate needlework companion for Luzkita’s community: a sewing journal.

About the Project

After more than 30 years of testing, using, and refining various needlework tools, Luzkita has decided to launch her first sewing journal. Inspired by her habit of documenting everything she learns, she envisioned this journal as a real-life companion for her widespread community of practice.

Project pages introduction

Inspiration

As a third-generation needlework artisan, I have used notebooks in various ways—to document my process, track my materials, and list future projects. This experience, combined with Luzkita’s expertise from her teaching days and her commitment to fostering a positive mindset, helped shape the four main sections of the journal and their corresponding dividers.

Concept

The perfect companion for sewists experimenting with needlecraft—
Inspiring, guiding, and accompanying them, just as Luzkita does in her videos.

Inspiring: Each section begins with a positive affirmation, featuring some of Luzkita’s most emblematic and frequently used quotes.

Guiding: Dedicated sections cover different phases of the sewist’s journey, from planning and project definition to measurement guides and free pages for notes.

Companionship: Luzkita’s words, logo, and heartfelt messages are infused into every page of the agenda.

The sections

The agenda is divided into 4 main sections that follow the conventional planning process of a creative project.

1. Plans & Inventory: Pages to list desired projects, set priorities and deadlines, and record the materials you already own.

2. Project Worksheets: Dedicated pages to log essential project details, including date, inspiration, purpose, materials, and additional notes.

3. Size Guides: A section with detailed instructions and diagrams on how to take accurate measurements—whether for yourself or others—based on Luzkita’s best practices. Includes dedicated pages to record project-specific measurements.

4. Ideas: The largest and most flexible section, designed for creativity and free expression.

Page Indicators

Each section features position markers along the page edges. These markers not only indicate the section but also add a pop of color to the agenda’s design when closed.

Cover & Back Cover

To maintain consistency with Luzkita’s brand identity, I selected the same illustration used for her channel. Since some users prefer drawings over a portrait, we incorporated different motifs for the front and back covers.

Front Cover: Features Luzkita’s face alongside floral motifs and an organic-shaped logo, preserving the journal’s handcrafted aesthetic.

Back Cover: Showcases characters from Luzkita’s intro animation, complemented by a subtle texture that adds depth and liveliness.

Production

I collaborated with a local printing company specializing in editorial printing. To ensure an eco-friendly and natural feel, I selected recycled, non-bleached paper for both the pages and the cover. The binding features twin-loop wire rings, providing an ergonomic grip for ease of use. Additionally, we designed a special box for deliveries, enhancing both presentation and protection.

Sewing Journal in the making

Impact

The Agenda Luzkita has quickly become more than just a sewing journal—it’s an inspiring tool that empowers sewists to stay motivated, organized, and even pursue new entrepreneurial ventures.

The first customers have shared how the journal fuels their creativity and encourages them to take their sewing journey to the next level:

"Feliz con mi nueva agenda de @conluzkita, lista para emprender nuevos proyectos este 2025. Está súper genial, me encantó."

"Ya me llegó mi agenda y no viene sola🤗 Muy bonita y, lo más importante, es que es práctica. Tiene muchos pasos para ser organizadas. ¡Un saludo!"

This feedback confirms that the agenda is not just a planner but a motivational companion that helps users structure their work, track their progress, and feel supported in their craft.

Future potential

Beyond its functional benefits, the journal reflects the values that Luzkita promotes—creativity, organization, and a positive mindset. The community has responded positively, recognizing how these principles are embedded in the products she creates and sells.

The success of the sewing journal has also opened doors for new projects. The team is gaining valuable insights into the mechanics of editorial production, which will inform future product development. Whether it’s expanding the journal line, exploring digital formats, or creating complementary tools, this project serves as a foundation for growth and innovation.
